3 Songs That We Have On Repeat

"You gotta listen to this!"

That's what my husband said to me one morning as we were getting the kids ready for school.  A song was playing, but I could barely hear it about the chatter and noise that comes with three kids getting ready for school.  Instead of hearing the words of the song, I heard,

"Mom, can you help me make my lunch?"

"Mom, can you tell him to stop looking at me?"

"Mom, where are my shoes?"

I could tell from my husband's expression that it was important for me to listen to the song, so I promised to do it after the kids were gone.

One thing you must know is that my husband's nickname around our house is "Daddy DJ."  He's always finding new music and playing different songs.  But, unlike the other songs he's played for me, this one left me speechless.

Stop and breathe in these lyrics for a moment...

We must not worship something that’s not even worth it. Clear the stage, make some space for the One who deserves it.

Anything I put before my God is an idol.
Anything I want with all my heart is an idol.
Anything I can’t stop thinking of is an idol.
Anything that I give all my love is an idol.

This was the first time I felt like the words of a song could articulate the matters of my heart.  Until now, I couldn't remember a song that helped in identifying my sin, confessing it, and turning from it.

Music has always been a powerful force in my life.

When I hear a song from the '90s, it takes me back -- I can remember where I was, who I was with, and what I was doing when that song was popular.

If the Holy Spirit is going to move me to tears, it will be through music.

Our house can feel so bland until a fun playlist comes blaring through the speakers in our kitchen.

In different seasons of my life, there are songs that I just can't help but turn it up!

Here are my top 3 right now...

1. Clear the Stage by Jimmy Needham.

2. Still by Hillary Scott

 3. Behold our God by Sovereign Grace Music.

You can find these songs on our "When You Don't Have the Words" Playlist on Spotify.  Do you have songs that speak to your heart and you can't help but turn them up and play them on repeat!?  Share them with us in the comments and we'll add them to this playlist!!
