How to Stay in the Fight

What does it look like to stay in the fight as we live each day?  It can mean something different for each of us.  Maybe you're fighting to get out of bed in the morning, maybe you're fighting for your marriage, or maybe you're fighting cancer.  You might even be fighting fear or depression or anxiety.  The enemy wants nothing more than to distract us and bring us down to prevent us from being affective for the Lord.

Hebrews 10:39 says, "But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls."

In the midst of trials, let's cling to our faith and the assurance we have from God's promises and press on in perseverance!  Consider this your spiritual pep talk, and in hard times, don't shrink back.  Stay in the fight for your soul knowing that His grace is sufficient to help you do so.

I recently read a devotional by Vertical Worship on the Bible app.  Here is what they shared...

"Pretending that there are no battles in life is a waste of time.  It is, however, a tool the enemy tries to use to get us to forget how to fight.  After all, if there is no battle, there is no need for vigilance, warriors, or weapons.  And that makes us unprepared, under trained, and without tools to fight.

Because the battles DO come.  2 Timothy 2:3 says, 'Join me in suffering like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.' This implies that signing up with Jesus means our Christian walk will not be easy and that you will be required to flight."

Ephesians 6:11-13 says, "Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.  For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand."

Every day we must choose to put on the armor and fight, trusting God to give us the strength we need for our battles.

As Matthew Henry summarizes, “It is the honorable character of just men that in times of the greatest affliction they can live by faith; they can live upon the assured persuasion they have the truth of God’s promises.  Faith puts life and vigor into them.  They can trust God, live upon him, and wait his time; and, as their faith maintains their spiritual life now, it shall be crowned with eternal life hereafter.”

When trials come our way God calls us to cling to our faith knowing that his grace is sufficient to help us do so.  Faith maintains our spiritual life now, and makes a way for us to be crowned with eternal life after.

STAY IN THE FIGHT!

Praying for you,

Carrie
