Jessica – living on purpose

One area of my life that can keep me distracted from God’s race for me is working full-time, volunteering, and ultimately being busy.  For me, I don’t think I can lay work and my volunteering aside but have to incorporate GOD into my race.  I need to make an effort to put God in all that I do.  I have tried to incorporate it in my fitness group at work and by being involved in a Mom’s Bible study and also just by living life with grace.  I have in the past several months just tried to be more positive and focused on the good around me.

Some of my favorite Scriptures come from the Book of 1st Peter.  This book was written to all believers with the ultimate purpose to encourage suffering Christians and to call them to personal holiness.  I grew up going to church (because my parents asked me to).  I was confirmed when I was suppose to, but I didn’t really feel like I was a Christian until well into my adult life.  Maybe that is why I like 1 Peter.  It makes sense to me.  He addresses personal holiness as God’s people, even when we are suffering.  He teaches that as Christians we are to expect suffering, but we are saved through Christ.

1 Peter 4:8

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

I came to Christ as an adult because I was living a lie.  I was in somewhat of an out-of-body experience — going down a path of self-destruction.  I turned to Christ for forgiveness and a guiding light to greater things.  Now, I am more focused on living with purpose, giving and shining the light of Christ in all that I do.  I struggle, sometimes, but that’s when I have to remember to breathe, take a moment to re-center myself and remember that I have been loved, forgiven, saved, and blessed.

1 Peter 4:10

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Jessica is a mom of two beautiful kiddos, Danica and Jasper.  She married her high school sweetheart in 2000 and even though he didn’t grow up in church, he is the reason Jessica has really tried to bring her life and their family’s center back to Christ.

She works full-time as an officer at their family-owned financial institution, leads a fitness group 4 days a week, and tries to encourage others daily in their health and fitness journey.  She is also involved in their local school board, chamber of commerce, church board, and is a Sunday school teacher.
