The month of November always makes me reflective. The holidays are quickly approaching and another year will soon come to an end.
My husband’s family has a special Thanksgiving tradition. After we’ve all stuffed ourselves silly, we go around the table and share what we are thankful for. Around this table, there is laughter and tears — we have so much to be thankful for when we stop and reflect.
When I first joined the family, I would always get nervous about the attention being on me. But, years later, I realized it has nothing to do with me and everything to do with Jesus. It’s not about the attention being on me. Instead, it’s about pointing those around the table toward God and giving a testimony to what He’s done in my life that year.
This November, I’m going to share with you what I will share around that table. The things that Jesus has done in my life this year…all that I have to be thankful for because He is working in and through me.
I’m thankful for Jesus.
It may seem trite or cliche, but it’s truth.
I’m a hot mess. I’m selfish…proud…impatient…and easily angered. If I had to do this life on my own strength, I would be a DISASTER! (And some days I still am!!)
From much experimenting, I’ve found that — for me — it’s best to be alone with Jesus first thing in the morning. While everyone is asleep and my coffee is hot, I read and pray and seek the Lord. This gives Him the first minutes of my day and the first voice in the direction of my day.
I wish I could tell you that because of this, every day is perfect for me. That’s not the case. I need my Savior every minute — not just my first minutes.
He has done so much in my life. He has moved mountains to win my heart. And for that, I’m thankful.
